PM Chairs the UNESCAP in BangkokMillennium Development Goals remain an unfinished business for the Asia and Pacific region”, Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay said this while speaking at the session of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific held in Bangkok, Thailand.

Lyonchhen, who is the Chair of the 70th session of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, told the regional gathering that the Asia and Pacific region must strive together to accelerate its progress towards achieving the remaining millennium goals and targets.

The theme of the 70th Commission Session is “Regional Connectivity for Shared Prosperity”.

Lyonchhen said there is an urgent need for a paradigm-shifting integrated approach toward regional connectivity for attaining a future of shared prosperity.

Prime Minister highlighted that an equitable pattern of growth and development should be reinforced as the Commission’s objective whereby all countries of the region, big and small, rich and poor, developed and developing, low income and high income benefit from the regional growth processes.
