It was an unusual sighting in Trongsa. A big vulture like bird was sighted for the first time. Residents have seen the bird in the area for the past two days and some are even skeptical about it fearing safety for their children and pets alike.
Though it has not caused any harm to the people or animals but residents are beginning to worry that it might pick on small children and pets since it is relatively huge.
The residents said they are seeing this bird for the first time. Some people claimed that these birds were seen only at the very high altitude. Forestry officials said it is a vulture species and suspect it as a Himalayan griffon. It is a scavenger and said to be living above the tree lines only.
The average size usually from the tip of the beak to the end of the tail is more than one metre long.
