The National Assembly, today, discussed Gyadrung’s salary, allowances and other benefits. While a few members thought it should not be included in the Local Government Members’ entitlements, others thought it should be decided by the Royal Civil Service Commission.
The discussion was based on the recommendations of the Good Governance Committee.

A few MPs said Gyadrung is not an elected post. They instead proposed the post should be seen as any other post in the Thromde and Dzongkhag Administrations.
Some MPs suggested that until Gyadrung is clubbed under civil service, it is alright to have the entitlement under the LG member’s entitlement.
The Speaker, Jigme Zangpo, said the Home and Cultural Affairs Ministry should work closely with the RCSC on the matter.
