To boost the morale and professionalism of teachers, the Ministry of Education plans to establish a National Teacher Council at the end of this year.
“The National Teacher Council will function as an autonomous body and look after all the teacher-related problems in the country,” said the education minister, Mingbo Dukpa.
Lyonpo said the autonomous body will take care of issues such as transfer cases, promotions and their career tracks. He was speaking to the people of Dewathang Gewog at Samdrup Jongkhar.
Education minister also said that it is very important to respect teachers to get good education.
“…Education itself is teacher. If we don’t respect teacher it is difficult to get good education.”
Currently, there are about 281 teachers with almost 6,767 students in 32 schools in Samdrup Jongkhar.
