Mismatch between jobs and job seekers continues to be an issue

job-seekerThe mismatch between jobs and job seekers continues to be an issue in the country. In an effort to help address this problem, a seminar on job analysis for job-seekers has been held in the capital.

A study carried out by the Neyjor Institute of technical and human value based in Gelephu shows that in 2013, more than 51,000 jobs were in high demand. These jobs were mainly in the construction, power and hospitality sectors.

Of the total, the highest demand was in the construction sector. The study recorded the unemployment rate at about 7000.  The Chief Executive Officer of the Neyjor Institute of Technical and Human Value, Sonam Tashi, attributes the wide gap to the mismatch between jobs and job-seekers. The majority of job- seekers were graduates, reluctant to work in the construction sector, as they perceived the manual work to be beneath them.

The Neyjor Institute will be training job-seekers to meet the requirements of the construction sector and also creating awareness on the kinds of jobs that are available in the sector.

The Chief Executive Officer also highlighted the unique values that the institute will inculcate among job-seekers.

Neyjor Institute’s study projects that close to one hundred forty seven thousand job-seekers will enter the job market by 2018.
