The objective of the workshop was to train the participants identify issues different communities in Thimphu face and work out solutions.

“It was an opportunity for young people to learn about their own environment and also about the community and an important approach where we say, don’t just look at the problems but try and find out the solutions ,” said the Bhutan Centre for Media and Democracy’s Director, Siok Sion Pek Dorji.

The participants were divided into five groups and asked to go to different communities in Thimphu, identify issues and come up with solutions. These groups found out that the common problems faced by the communities in Thimphu are shortage of water, lack of libraries and internet facilities, lack of parking area and problem of waste management among others.
