Phuentsholing Police have detained three men aged between 23 and 31 in connection with smuggling of tobacco products. The consignment was intercepted at Rinchendhing check-post on Wednesday afternoon after a tip off from an informer.
The tobacco products were concealed under the load of cement bags in a Jumbo truck. There were 1,240 packets of cigarettes, 2352 baba khaini packets with 12 pieces in each packet and 1792 packets of bidi.
As per the statement of the driver, the products belonged to two different owners from Pasakha and Gaiguri, a village about 12 kilometers from Phuentsholing towards Thimphu.
