Confiscated goods auctioned

Confiscated-goods-auctionedThe Regional Revenue and Customs office has confiscated goods worth Nu.7,27,000 in the past one year. These goods include furniture, liquor, and vegetable oil. The confiscated goods were auctioned, yesterday.

While the vegetable oil had been confiscated after their buyers had failed to pay the fines, the furniture had been seized after their import had been banned since March, last year.

The confiscated liquor included banned items like Fosters, Breezers and other beers. Initially, the Customs officials had decided to dispose of the liquor, but as it had already been brought into the country, the liquor was auctioned following orders from the office’s headquarters in Thimphu.
