His Majesty arrives in Bangladesh

His Majesty the King arrived at Dhaka in Bangladesh with Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen. Their Majesties were received by the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, Dr. Dipu Moni.

His Majesty is on a five-day visit to Bangladesh.

While in Bangladesh, His Majesty will meet with the Prime Minister,

Sheikh Hasina, and the President, Md. Zillur Rahman.

His Majesty will also grant audiences to the Foreign Minister, Leader of the Opposition and Chairperson of Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Begum

Khalida Zia, political leaders, educationists, and other notable Bangladeshi individuals, as well as the Bhutanese students in Bangladesh.

His Majesty the King will visit the Dharmarajika Bouddha Bihar, a Buddhist temple in Bangladesh, and lay the foundation stone for building the Atisha statue and Atisha Pagoda at the location.

His Majesty will also visit industries in Dhaka.

This is His Majesty’s second visit to Bangladesh after the Coronation.

His Majesty was invited as a Special Guest of Honour to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Bangladesh’s Independence on 26 March 2011.

The visit of Their Majesties to Bangladesh expresses the goodwill and friendship between the people of Bhutan and Bangladesh.
