Haphazard execution of major development activities, especially the construction and renovation of roads in Zhemgang, has people dissatisfied.
Of late, the highway between Tingtibi and Tamala has been blacktopped and pavement strengthened. But, the road has already been damaged due to heavy excavators plying on the road. Also, the extraction of boulders from the roadside cliff has buried parts of road.
Many motorists, speaking to BBS, said the authority concerned should allow heavy vehicles to ply only after the blacktopped is properly set. They said the authority should also make sure that no extraction of boulders be allowed from the roadsides.
According to the officiating executive engineer of Department of Road in Zhemgang, Kencho Tshering, the contractor, to whom the work was awarded, will be held responsible for the damages.
Meanwhile, the Gelephu-Trongsa highway is also being renovated with a fund of Nu. 130 million from the Indian Government. The renovation is scheduled to be complete by June this year.
