An automated teller machine of the Bank of Bhutan’s located in Thimphu city was smashed by a customer at 1:30 a.m., today.
The General Manager of the bank said that the customer had smashed the machine out of frustration as his ATM card had been retracted by the machine while withdrawing money. The man had hit the ATM with a rock, damaging the screen.
The culprit was handed over to the police by the bank’s security, who had caught hold of him, right after the incident. The bank’s media focal person also said the man had been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
