Chhukha district will have four candidates to choose from when the nation goes to poll on the 20th of April for the National Council Elections. All four candidates entered the Dhamngoi Zomdu unopposed and a Yes or No vote was cast to confirm their nomination.

42-year-old Sangay Dorji from Gedu Miritsemo is the nominee from Bongo Gewog. Sangay Dorji is the incumbent National Council Member of Parliament from Chhukha District. He secured a resounding 535 Yes votes and 36 No votes.

For Loggchina Gewog, 36-year-old Damcho Gyeltshen from Chimongna is their National Council nominee. Being the only aspiring candidate from his Gewog, Damcho Gyeltshen secured 244 Yes votes and 29 No votes.

Similarly, 36-year-old Hem Prasad Raii from Lingdaen is Phuentshogling Gewog’s nomination for Chhukha district’s seat in the National Council. He secured 210 Yes votes and 63 No votes.

And finally, 32-year-old Tandin Wangchuk from Phuentshogling-maed has been nominated from the Phuentshogling Thromde. He got 74 Yes votes and 13 No votes.

Meanwhile, Maedtabkha, Samphelling, Doongna, Geling, Getena, Darla, Chhapcha, and Bjagchhog Gewogs did not have any aspiring candidates.

However, almost 500 people attended the Dhamngoi Zomdu in these Gewogs despite not having any candidates.

The four Gewogs with candidates saw over 1,200 voters in attendance during the Dhamngoi Zomdu.
