Sarpang nominates 9 aspiring candidates for NC election

Sarpang will have a total of nine candidates contesting for the post of National Council Member of Parliament. A total of 12 aspiring candidates from nine Gewogs declared their interests during the Dhamngoi Zomdus, the last of which was held yesterday. The poll day for the National Council elections is scheduled to take place on 20th April.

In Chhuzergang Gewog, the people nominated 39-year-old Khari Lal Gurung from Barthang village as their NC candidate. He was the lone applicant. He secured 309 Yes votes and 79 No votes.

In Chhuzom Gewog, more than 440 voters came to vote in the Dhamngoi Zomdu process. Deo Kumar Rimal from Lhayuel village was the lone applicant in the gewog as well. The 37 year old qualified with 407 Yes votes against 36 Nos.

Dekiling Gewog had two aspiring candidates for the Dhamngoi Zomdu but one of the candidates was disqualified for not meeting the 10 year working experience requirement. The people voted in favour of San Badhur Monger from Dekiling village. The 42-year-old secured 663 Yes votes and 69 No votes.

In Gakiling Gewog, the people have approved Anand Rai from Gatemkha village to represent the Gewog in the NC elections. The 39-year-old was the only applicant. He secured 432 Yes and 63 No votes.

Gelephu Gewog had the highest number of Dhamngoi Zomdu candidates in the district. Of the three aspiring candidates, Kuenga from Pelrithang Khatoed secured the highest votes. The 36-year-old secured 454 votes against his opponents Namgay Pem who secured 169 votes and Rajan Kumar Kafley who got 45 votes.

Meanwhile, voters in Singye Gewog chose Rajesh Rai from Yarphelling village as their NC candidate. The 51-year-old, the only applicant, secured 232 Yes votes and 32 No votes.

And there were two aspiring candidates in Serzhong Gewog. But Pema Tashi from Serzhong village prevailed against his opponent Jigme Dorji from Tashiphu village. The 38 year old secured 516 votes against his opponent who managed only 179 votes.

Shompangkha Gewog has chosen Dorji Dukpa as their candidate. The 56-year-old from Koenchholing village was the only aspiring candidate in the gewog. He secured 309 Yes votes and 105 No votes.

And in Umling Gewog, the voters have chosen Dechen Lhaden. She is 42 years of age and is from Rijoog village. She was lone applicant and secured 374 Yes votes and 52 No votes.

Meanwhile, Jigme Chhoeling, Samtenling and Tareythang gewogs and Gelephu Thromde did not have any aspiring candidates during the Dhamngoi Zomdus. Sarpang has 12 Gewogs and one Thromde.

More than 4500 voters turned up for the Dhamngoi Zomdus in Sarpang.
