Miss USA, R’Bonney Gabriel has been crowned the Miss Universe 2022. Unlike the past competitions, the beauty pageant this time was extra special for the Bhutanese audience. It was Bhutan’s debut at one of the world’s biggest platforms of beauty and glamour. Tashi Choden represented the country and its culture and stunned fellow Bhutanese at home and abroad.

Although she did not win the title or make it to the top 16, the winner of the Miss Bhutan title, 23-year-old Tashi Choden from Wangdue-Phodrang gave some stellar performances in the costume rounds.

In a proud moment for Bhutan, Tashi Choden represented the country in the national costume round. She wore a Kira with intricate Bhutanese patterns. And her Tego depicted the country’s architectural design, the eight lucky signs, and a dragon.

And in the evening gown round, Tashi wore a phoenix dress representing herself, rising to the highest.

More than 80 women from all over the world competed for the crown at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center in the US.
