The education ministry has postponed the board examination to February next year. The exams will be conducted from 14 till 28th February. The ministry announced it yesterday through a notification. The Board Examination is usually held from 1st to 13th December.
Karma Galay, the Director General of the Department of School Education said the ministry had decided to defer the board exams as children, especially in the south were affected by the pandemic. “Schools in the south especially in Phuentshogling and places like Samtse were affected by lockdown. Our children could not be given contact teaching and schools remained closed for about six months. We have relocated these students from Phuentshogling to Punakha. We wanted to give these students from Phuentsholing and other affected schools some level playing field. ”
The education ministry said the home examinations for classes four till nine and classes XI in the schools affected will also likely be deferred to December.
However, in the schools unaffected by the pandemic the home examinations will be held in the third week of November.
