During the National Assembly session yesterday, the government proposed to introduce sustainable development fee for regional tourists at 25 per cent of the USD $ 65 per night halt. The USD $ 65 per person per night halt is the SDF for international leisure tourists.

Regional leisure tourists are those from India, Bangladesh and the Maldives visiting Bhutan for the purpose of Leisure and Holiday. The levy is expected to generate additional revenue besides promoting Bhutan as a high-end tourist destination.
