The Bhutanese U-18 football team advances to the semi-finals of the SAFF Under 18 Championship 2019 after impressive performances in the group stages of the competition.
Defeating the host nation, Nepal 3 – 0 in their opening match of the competition, the dragon boys were also successful in holding the Maldivians to a goalless draw yesterday. Bhutan will go to the semi-finals as the winner from the Group A with 4 points and face the runners-up of Group B, Bangladesh tomorrow.
This is Bhutan’s second semi-finals of the SAFF U-18 Championship. In 2017, Bhutan hosted the SAFF U-18 Championship and reached the semi-finals. Bangladesh went on to the finals beating Bhutan 3-0 at the Changlimingthang stadium. Bhutan, however, won the FIFA Fair Play Award of the tournament.
