Bhutan to soon have a bio-fertilizer company

The Farm Machinery Corporation Limited (FMCL) and the B&B Korea Co., Ltd signed a Memorandum of Understanding today. The agreement is aimed at the establishment of Bhutan’s first-ever bio-fertilizer company based at Athang Gewog in Wangdue Phodrang. It is a business idea committed to fulfilling the nation’s aspiration of becoming 100 per cent organic in agriculture for assuring safe and nutrition security. 

Not many aware of health ministry’s ongoing health screening services in high-risk areas

Not many residents of the COVID high-risk areas are aware of the health ministry’s ongoing comprehensive health screening services. According to the health minister, the ministry continues to receive enquiries from the residents of high-risk areas about the seven-day mandatory quarantine to visit Thimphu for medical check-up. The ministry is urging the residents to avail themselves of the services at their respective districts. 

BCMD launches toolkit to involve citizens in decision-making

Every voice must be heard for a vibrant democracy. In line with this, the Bhutan Centre for Media and Democracy (BCMD) launched a toolkit. It is to help the government involve every citizen in the decision-making process. The toolkit is a kind of survey that will help authorities learn about issues and identify approaches to address them.

Sarpang police arrested a woman for allegedly murdering her stepmother. The incident took place at Sheychamthang on the 16th of this month at about 9:00 pm. 

Pangrizampa College for Astrology celebrates 25th anniversary of its establishment

The only college for astrology in the country, the Pangrizampa College for Astrology celebrated its 25th anniversary today. Her Majesty the Queen Mother Sangay Choden Wangchuck graced the event. The college was established as an educational institute to learn and enhance traditional astrology in the country. The college in collaboration with the Zhung Dratshang organized the event.

Poll day for LG election scheduled on 22nd December

The third local government election will be held on 22nd December. The Election Commission announced the LG election for Gups, Mangmis and Tshogpas schedule today. The Thromde election for Samdrup Jongkhar will also be held on the same day.

Bumthang farmers discouraged to grow tomatoes as mass cultivation scrambles for market

After cabbages and carrots in the west and chillies in the south, it is now the tomatoes in Bumthang that cannot find buyers. With the district agriculture’s support, several households in Bumthang cultivated tomatoes on a commercial scale this year. However, farmers are disappointed without a good market for the fruit.

Punakha Police forwards deceptive and forgery case to OAG

The Police in Punakha have completed their investigation of the recent deceptive practice and forgery case. It has now been forwarded to the Office of the Attorney General for prosecution.
