Stray dogs cause nuisance in Haa

A pack of stray dogs that escaped from the dog pound in Haa have been attacking people as well as cattle in the Dzongkhag. The local people say they were several instances where dogs had attacked the residents.

Baseball comes to Bhutan

Baseball in Bhutan is now official with more than 50 children taking part in a Baseball coaching programme. The children will go through 9 coaching sessions, after which 5 children will be selected to represent Bhutan at the World Children’s Baseball Fair in Fukui in Japan in August.

500th community forest handed over

The 500th community forest was handed over to Zamtog village in Geneykha Gewog under Thimphu, yesterday. The 136-acre Domche Drongdey Nagtsel was handed over by the Swiss Assistant State Secretary, Beat Nobs, to 23 households of Zamtog.

High court upholds District Court’s verdict on Gyalpoizhing

The High Court upheld the Monggar district court’s verdict on the Gyalpoizhing land allotment case. The verdict was passed this afternoon. The former National Assembly Speaker Jigme Tshultim is sentenced to two and a half year imprisonment. He has been convicted for official misconduct, fraud and deceptive practice.  The earlier allegation of forgery has been dismissed due to lack of evidence.

Switzerland's Ambassador in Bhutan

The Assistant State Secretary of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, Ambassador Beat Nobs arrived in the country today on a five-day familiarization visit.

Three die of mushroom poisoning

A father, his daughter and brother-in-law have died of mushroom poisoning at the national referral hospital in Thimphu.
