The five-day Zhemgang Tshechu is began yesterday. Hundreds of people from all over Zhemgang gathered to witness the 30-year-old Tshechu.
During the Tshechu an HIV awareness campaign is also being carried out. People can receive counseling and have themselves checked for HIV voluntarily.
So far about 80 people have come forward to check themselves.
Our reporter, Tenzin Rabgye, says one of the day’s most interesting volunteers was one of the Atsaras, leading by example.
The Tshechu will end on Tuesday with the unveiling of the Throngdrel.
