The Yonten Lopen of the Central Monastic Body consecrated Tshendu Goenpa in Paro’s Naja Gewog, today. The Lhakhang was restored to its former glory last year. The Lhakhang was damaged by an earthquake in 2011 followed by a strong windstorm. The government renovated the Lhakhang spending more than Nu 5 M. The villagers of the gewog sponsored the murals inside the Lhakhang.

The Lhakhang is the seat of Lam Tshendu Jamtsho who is a student of Je-Tsang Khenchen, a Tibetan master and a friend of the Zhabdrung, Ngawang Namgyel. Villagers believe that Je-Tsang Khenchen came to Bhutan in the 16th century with his six disciples. The disciples then established six monasteries in Paro, which are mostly in Naja Gewog.
