Tsirang District Court sentenced a 29-year-old woman to five years and six months imprisonment for extortion, forgery, and impersonation.
She had swindled Nu 47000 from a man in Tsholingkha in May by claiming to be surveying kidu land.
The court has ordered the woman to refund the amount to the victim.
The case came to the limelight after the man reported it to the Gewog Administration Office. GAO had then reported the case to the police.
The police arrested the woman on July 8, this year.
