The Monggar District Court sentenced a 34-year-old woman from Trashi Yangtse to five-year imprisonment.

The verdict, pronounced on April 16, stated that the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) charged the convict for attempted voluntary manslaughter of 25-year-old woman.

The judgment also spells out that the woman was proven guilty of stabbing the victim several times on her body, face and forehead near Sherichhu Bridge in Monggar last year.

The court asked the woman to pay Nu 22,500 as compensatory damages to the victim within six months from the day the verdict was out. But, she cannot pay compensation in lieu for prison term.
