GelegphuDistrictCourtThe Gelegphu Forest Range Office produced a witness at the Gelegphu Dungkhag Court, today, during the hearing of the Tokay Gecko case.

The witness, an RBP official, claimed that he saw the lizard while on duty at the Gelegphu Dungpa’s residence but he said he wasn’t too certain if that  had been a gecko.

The hearing is being conducted to determine if the Tshachu’s caretaker Harka Bahadur Subba had brought more Tokay Gecko than he claims. The forest officials have accused the caretaker of bringing more than one lizard from Samdrupcholing in Samdrup Jongkhar.

Photos taken with a mobile phone were presented as evidence. However, it was found to be too blurry to be used as evidence.

The caretaker had denied that the voice in the audio evidence presented to the court last week was his.

The forest range office has been asked to produce further proof to support their accusation. Another hearing will be conducted on February 7.
