A windstorm damaged roofs of about 125 houses in four eastern districts on March 31. While assessment of the disaster is underway, the affected households have been provided with relief items. There were no reports of human casualties.

In Samdrup Jongkhar, a windstorm, reported at around 11 am, has blown off roofs of more than 45 houses. It affected six gewogs of Gomdhar, Lauri, Martshala, Orong, Serthig and Wangphu. The windstorm also killed three cows in Martshala and damaged hundreds of areca nut trees in the gewogs.

A similar storm in Pema Gatshel caused damage to more than 35 houses in eight gewogs. Most roofs of the affected houses were completely blown away. They were provided with tarpaulin sheets as immediate relief. The assessment for insurance claims is underway.

In Monggar, six gewogs also reported of a similar disaster. The storm, reported around 1 pm, damaged roofs of 27 houses. Jurmey Gewog recorded the highest number of cases.

In Trashigang, damages due to a windstorm were reported from 18 houses of Thrimshing gewog. While some roofs were completely blown off, others suffered partial damages.
