Wave of excitement has gripped the Nation as the day finally arrives. The three-day celebration of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo’s 60th Birth Anniversary began from today.
The entire nation had been preparing for the celebration. Every dzongkhag is donning a festive look with lights and flowers adorning buildings, roads and other structures.
Dagana has prepared a cultural performance to mark the celebration. Sarpang in the south has a festive ambiance for the big day. Offices are decorated with portraits of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo. Performers have been busy practicing all this time. Gelegphu town is all lit up to mark the historic occasion.
In Trashigang, the construction of a medicinal statue is nearing completion. The statue is especially constructed to commemorate the 60th birth anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo.
Monggar town wears a green look with the roofs of homes and offices painted green. Monggar’s neighbouring dzongkhag, Lhuentse is also buzzing with activities.
Civil servants, students and people have been busy rehearsing for the three day event in Trashi Yangtse.
Samtse Dzongkhag’s headquarter, gewogs and dungkhags also saw a major makeover.
Punakha and Pema Gatshel have also come alive for the celebration.
Preparations in Haa, Gasa, and Wangdue Phodrang are also complete with many activities planned for the three day celebration.
Home Minister Dawa Gyeltshen also inaugurated the Phuentshogling main streetscaping, yesterday. The Tashi Group of Companies funded the first phase bearing a total cost of Nu 20 M to commemorate the 60th Birth Anniversary His Majesty the fourth Druk Gyalpo. Phuentshogling Thromde will now continue with the beautification work.
