The Wamrong Dungkhag Court, today, sentenced the wife of the Drangpoen, Tshering Yangki, to one and a half year in prison for the battery charges.
She was also sentenced to a year in prison for trespassing but she will only have to serve the one year and six months sentence concurrently. The court has altered the grading from petty misdemeanour to misdemeanour.
The court has also ordered her to pay Nu 225,000 as compensation to the victim as the victim has been found suffering temporary total disability and Nu 38,200 as medical expenses incurred during her medical treatments.
Meanwhile, the court has acquitted the sweeper’s wife and their son, who were accused of assault by the prosecutor.
Sources say the convict will appeal to the higher court.
