Teachers who have voluntarily resigned can now rejoin teaching on contract. This is according to the Ministry of Education and Skills Development’s notification posted on their official Facebook page earlier today. Officials from ministry were not available for detailed information regarding this latest development.
To rejoin the service, the resigned teachers should not cross the superannuation age of 60 years, not be terminated or compulsorily retired on disciplinary grounds and should complete a year of cooling period if they had participated in political activities.
According to the notification, the candidates should be willing to serve at any location depending on subject requirements.
According to the Annual Education Statistics 2023, on average 3.8 per cent of teachers left their jobs last year which is a little more than 370 teachers.
The reasons for leaving include voluntary resignation, superannuation, and expiry of contract among others.
