To clean and sterilise waste produced from hospitals, the United Nations Development Programme in Bhutan and the Japanese government handed over specialised healthcare waste management equipment to the health ministry, today. The equipment worth over USD 1 M is the first of its kind in the country.
The healthcare waste management equipment includes 112 waste sterilisers, and Personal Protective Equipment, PPE. The specialised equipment is being distributed to 112 health centres in 15 districts.
The project also includes the deployment of five specialised medical waste trucks to further support medical waste management efforts.
