The Ministry of Economic Affairs will be restructured as Ministry of Energy and Minerals, and labour ministry as Ministry of Trade, Industry and Employment in the 12th Five Year Plan.

According to the latest Royal Civil Service Commission’s report, the implementation will be in next plan period as it involves transfer of many offices from economic affairs ministry to the labour ministry.

Many issues in the existing economic affairs ministry are also expected to be addressed during that period.

The implementation is mainly to bring into focus and tap synergy of the diverse mandates of economic affairs ministry.
