The Wangchuck Centennial National Park in Bumthang arrested 2 men suspected of musk deer poaching earlier this week from upper Chhoekhor Gewog.

A joint anti-musk deer patrolling team of foresters and other law enforcing agencies caught the suspects at around 9 PM on Tuesday after they were tipped off by the villagers. The suspects were said to be moving out of the park area after having supposedly set the traps inside the park area. The patrolling team found musk deer traps and some animal parts with the suspects during the bust.

They are currently under Bumthang Police custody and the case is under investigation.

Meanwhile, the annual anti-musk deer patrolling exercise is active in Wangchuck Centennial National Park currently. Most park officials are presently on high-mountains patrolling while also monitoring the outlying areas of the park office.
