Good news for the people of Tangsibji Gewog in Trongsa. Their popular holy water, Tsheringma Drupchhu, will be restored from the source after the completion of Nikachhu Hydropower Project. The project is scheduled to be complete in April 2021.
During the Dzongkhag Tshogdu held recently, project officials assured the local leaders that the issues arising due to tunnelling works will not be left unattended.
As per the project’s geology report, Tsheringma Drubchhu will be restored once the constructions of tunnel and plugging are complete.
The source of Tsheringma Drubchhu dried following the project’s tunnelling works in June last year.
Similarly, drinking water sources of about 60 households in Tangsibji were also affected.
“We received two more reports of water sources drying in Nyala Drangla. In Tangsibji as well, there have been reports of similar problems. If this continues, we will soon have many complaints of water shortage,” Gyembo Dorji, the Tangsibji Gup, said.
The Nikachhu Hydropower Project is already putting in efforts to restore the supply of Tsheringma Drupchhu. Some months ago, the project connected a water pipe to a nearby stream, which is believed to share the same source.
The sacred spring water is believed to be the holy water of goddesses Tsheringma and drinking it is believed to make one’s voice melodious.
