Seven trucks carrying sand loads were caught by the forestry officials on Saturday night between 11 pm to 1 am by night patrollers along the Hongtsho-Olakha highway. They were caught for violating the Forest and Nature Conservation Rules of 2000.
Five trucks were caught for by-passing the Semtokha check post without entry. One truck was caught for bringing the consignment to Thimphu, which was supposed to be taken to Punkaha and another for using fake permit. The sands were all brought from Wangduephodrang.
At the moment all seven trucks are kept at the check post in Semtokha. The case will be forwarded to the range office.
