Trongsa fields two candidates for NC elections

Trongsa has two aspiring candidates to contest the National Council elections. The Dhamngoi Zomdu in the district ended yesterday. The poll day for the National Council elections is scheduled for the 20th of April.

The people of Langthil Gewog elected Rinzin Namgyal as their National Council nominee.

The 45-year-old from Langthil village was the lone aspiring candidate from the Gewog. He secured 325 Yes votes and 48 No votes.

Nubi Gewog nominated Sonam Penjor from Chela village. The 39-year-old secured 129 Yes votes and five No votes.

Meanwhile, Draagteng, Korphu, Tangsibji Gewogs, and Trongsa Throm did not have any aspiring candidates.

However, a little more than 400 people from these three Gewogs and the Throm attended the Dhamngoi Zomdu.

In Trongsa, the Dhamngoi Zomdu was held in six locations including five gewogs and the Throm. The two Gewogs with the aspiring candidates saw more than 500 voters participate in the Dhamngoi Zomdu.
