Trashigang police have detained the gup of Phongmey Gewog on suspicion of raping a 17-year-old minor. According to sources, the gup and the girl were in a long-term relationship.
The girl also has a child. However, it is yet to be determined if the child’s father is the gup.
The gup was arrested a week ago and is currently in the custody of the Trashigang police. Police have yet to begin the investigation into the case.
