A leopard was caught in a trap set by the villagers of Dechhenpelri village under Samtenling Gewog in Sarpang on Saturday. Forestry officials from Thimphu and Gelegphu rescued the animal this morning. It was tranquilised before removing from the trap. Farmers of the village had set the trap in their paddy fields to prevent deer and wild boars from damaging the crop.
The forest officials will be treating the leopard before setting it free..
