To produce graduates who are skilled and work-ready, the Royal University of Bhutan intends to make its programmes and courses relevant to the jobs available in the market. In this regard, the university signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Culture today.

As per the MoU, seven colleges under the RUB will make additions to their courses with culturally important topics such as heritage building conservation, intangible cultural heritage, archaeology, conservation science, and museology.

“The initiative that we are taking at the moment with the Department of Culture, the collaboration for our students is particularly in Political science, Archeology and Social sciences. We are also aspiring to ensure that our students get on the job training and practical,” said Tshering Choden, the Chief of the Research and External Relation with the University.

The seven colleges are the College of Language and Culture Studies, College of Science and Technology, Jigme Namgyel Engineering College, Paro College of education, Royal Thimphu College, Samtse College of Education and Sherubtse College.

The RUB said they are yet to decide on when the changes will be made and implemented.
