The Thimphu District Court sentenced a 33-year-old woman to three years imprisonment for selling tobacco products in Thimphu.
The verdict was passed earlier this month.
A tip off had led to the arrest of the woman. The police, officials from Trade and Bhutan Narcotic Control Agency had confiscated over 3,800 grams of chewing tobacco and about 4,000 pieces of cigarette from her shop in Motithang.
The woman is from Garigoan village under Samtse Dzongkhag.
