Thimphu Thromde inching closer to build multi-storied parking facilities

Multi-storied parking facilities-Finding a parking space in Thimphu is becoming increasingly difficult. The capital city already has 30,000 vehicles and the number is increasing by the day.

So, to be able to accommodate the number of growing vehicles, the Thimphu Thromde had planned to construct multi-storied parking facilities more than two years ago.

Today, the thromde is a step closer to making the plan a reality. The thromde signed an agreement with KCR Company to develop two parking structures and management of parking areas in the core city area.

The KCR Company is a joint venture of three companies, two from Bhutan and one from Nepal. The project will be done in the Public- Private Partnership model. This means KCR will invest in the infrastructure development. They will manage the parking areas and new structures for 22 years from now.

The structure, to be built near Zangtopelri Shopping Complex will accommodate about 400 vehicles. The construction of both structures is expected to be complete in two years.
