Thimphu experiences first snowfall of the year

FirstSnowFall2014Thimphu experiences its first snowfall of the year. The snowfall started about 11 this morning. A press release from the Department of Hydro-Met Services under the Ministry of Economic Affairs yesterday had said light to moderate snowfall was expected in most places of altitude above 2800 metres over the region of Western, Central, Eastern and high passes of Bhutan during next 48 hours.

FirstSnowFall2014.Meanwhile, Road blocks have been reported at Chapcha, along the Thimphu-Phuentshogling highway and Dochula Pass. Traffic Personnel have been deployed to clear the blocks. The traffic police say it would be difficult to clear the blocks if it continues to snow tonight. They have requested the travelers to check with the traffic police before starting their journey.
