Coinciding with the Fifth coronation anniversary of His Majesty the King yesterday, a basketball tournament was organised by the Dzongkhag Sports Association in Haa.
Team 101 Alpha won the final played yesterday. They defeated team Druk Karpo.
The winner took home a cash prize of Nu.15,000, While, the runners-up team received Nu.10,000. About 10 teams participated in the tournament over the week.
Meanwhile, the Queen’s Trophy, a football tournament, to commemorate the second anniversary of the Royal Wedding entered the knockout round from yesterday. Four matches were played yesterday.
A total of 24 teams are taking part in the tournament. The winning team will receive a cash prize of Nu.50, 000, while the runners-up, will be awarded Nu.30, 000.
The final match will be played next Saturday.
The match was initiated by Punakha Sports Association in 2011.
