Sweden’s King and Queen visit Punakha Dzong

Sweden’s King and Queen visit Punakha DzongHis Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen of Sweden visited Punakha Dzong and other sacred sites, yesterday.

His Majesty the King Carl XVI Gustaf and Her Majesty the Queen Silvia offered butter lamps in the Kuenray of the Dzong.

Their Majesties also visited Dochula and Sangha Dorji Lhundrup Choeling nunnery at Wolakha where they interacted with nuns.

Later in the evening, as a gift to the people of Bjara village under Toedwang Gewog in Punakha, Their Majesties handed over a sling water pump.

Their Majesties also visited some traditional Bhutanese farm house in the village.

Senior government officials and Sweden delegation accompanied Their Majesties.

Their Majesties will be leaving the country today.
