More than 30 light, medium and heavy vehicles waited in front of the Gelegphu border gate this morning as the Gelegphu police went to inspect the Samthaibari Bridge in Assam, India.
The bridge has been submerged by floodwater. At 10:30 am, only light and medium vehicles were allowed to ply to their respective destinations. On reaching the sinking bridge, arrangements have been made to let the passengers cross the bridge on foot as a safety measure.
Meanwhile, heavy vehicles will be allowed to ply only after the water level recedes and this the police says will take some time.
