(SJ strike update): The group of stranded Sherubtse students in Samdrup Jongkhar will be given special escort service on Thursday to travel to their homes. The students have been stranded for the last three days following the 72-hour strike in the neighbouring Indian State of Assam.
Normally, there is no escort service from Samdrup Jongkhar on Thursdays and Sundays. However, the students have been given permission as they appealed the Dzongkhag authorities and the Police to look into their situation.
Otherwise, they would have to wait until Friday to continue their journey. However, the escort service will only be provided if there is no fresh strike called in the State.
