Sleeping seven to nine hours is important for active mind and body healthy.
Health experts said though sleeping habits differ from one person to another, evolution of various electronic gadgets such as smart phones has changed the sleeping habits of Bhutanese.
“I don’t have a disciplined sleeping pattern. If I go to bed early, I get up late and also I can’t immediately fall asleep, I fiddle with phone or watch TV,” said a resident in Thimphu, Lhap Dorji.
Medical doctors say not sleeping on time or sleeping more than required will result in health complications.
“Less sleep or otherwise can lead to mental disorders such as alcoholism and depression and other diseases such as diabetics, hypertension and cardiovascular,” said an official from faculty of Postgraduate Medicine, Dr. Karma Tenzin.
Dr. Karma also recommends waking up early can easily set the tone for productive day.
