Trongsa is gearing up to host the 109th National Day celebration. Colorful banners and flags have been put up in the town.

Portraits of His Majesty The King and His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo have been put up along the streets.

Students, hoteliers, and shopkeepers are also decorating their premises.

Rehearsal for the cultural programs to be showcased during the celebration is also underway.

“As soon as we heard that the 109th National Day is going to be celebrated in Trongsa, we met the local leaders of five gewogs including the chairman,” said Trongsa Dzongda, Sonam Rincen.

He said the support has been pouring in.

“Two hydropower projects: Mangdechhu and Nikachhu have been supportive. We are glad that Chadri works are going on well and we are nearing completion. We hope that on December 17, we will put up a good show. ”

The National Day is celebrated on December 17 every year to honour Bhutan’s first monarch, Druk Gyalpo Gongsar Ugyen Wangchuck, and his contribution in unifying Bhutan.
