Coinciding with the coronation day yesterday, Cabinet ministers led by the Prime Minister Tshering Togbay offered Tashi Khadar to His Majesty the King at the Lingkana Palace.
The Indian ambassador to Bhutan, Gautam Bambawale, parliamentarians and other senior government officials also offered Tashi Khadar to His Majesty the King.
About 90 recipients of the Trongsa Penlop and the King’s scholarship also joined the coronation anniversary. Both the scholarships were bestowed upon by His Majesty the King.
On 1st November in 2008, His Majesty the King received Dhar Nye-Nga or the five silken scarves from the Holy Machen of Puna Dewa Chenpoi Phodrang in Punakha.
The Dhar Nye-Nga is received each time a Royal Successor is enthroned. The sacred ceremony symbolises the continuity of enlightened guidance from the golden throne.
