FuelHike- Petrol and diesel prices were revised upwards by Rs 3.9 and Rs 2.3 a litre in India yesterday midnight. The revision in Bhutan will happen midnight today with more or less the same rate of increase.

This is the third increase this year. The increase comes against the backdrop of rising international crude oil prices and the weakening of Indian rupee against the dollar. The rupee is trading at 64 a dollar as of today.

Petrol will cost around Nu 63.6 and diesel Nu 52.2 a litre after the revision.

The sharp hike in fuel price is expected to have a direct bearing on the cost of essentials, as it will result in increased transportation cost.
