ShambuRaiNiteShambu Rai,  a renowned Nepalese singer, performed to a crowd of at least 1,500 people at the YDF hall in Thimphu, last evening. Shambu Rai, who has won many awards in the last 31 years of his career as a musician and singer, had many a fan among middle-aged Bhutanese.

Organisers had managed to sell only a 100 tickets prior to the day of the show and had not expected the overwhelming number of fans that finally turned up in the evening. One of them even confessed to having problems with crowd control.

The show was organised by a group of young people with support from the Hindu religious group-the Hindu Dharma Samudaya. Proceeds from the show will be given to the group to support its activities.
