Upon arrival in Thimphu today, Prime Minister Modi and his counterpart Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay attended the exchange of a series of Memoranda of Understanding. The two foreign secretaries of India and Bhutan exchanged MoUs which are for establishing railway links, and cooperation in sports and youth, agriculture and livestock among others.
One of the Memoranda of Understanding was on the establishment of railway links between India and Bhutan.
Additionally, the Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries on cooperation in sports and youth was also exchanged.
In the fields of agriculture, livestock and allied sectors, the two countries exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding on technical cooperation.
The other Memoranda of Understanding include cooperation in the field of energy efficiency and energy conservation measures, and general supply of petroleum, oil, lubricants and related products from India to Bhutan.
In the field of food and drug regulation, the two countries exchanged the agreement for recognition of official control exercised by the Bhutan Food andDrug Authority by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, and a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation concerning sharing reference standard, Pharmacopoeia, vigilance and testing of medical products.
The other includes the Memorandum of Understanding on peering arrangement between two countries and a joint plan of action on space cooperation.
